Established in 1929, Tokai Rubber Industries manufactures automobile components which today account for 80% of its total sales. Customers include all of the OEM automobile manufacturers of Japan. Tokai Rubber is a member of Sumitomo Electric Industries group and has no affiliation with, and therefore independent of, any automobile company.

Anti-vibration rubber products are indispensable components in automobiles in pursuing NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) reduction. Tokai Rubber also develops and provides automobile hoses that comply with the strictest of environmental rules.
2. Development of new products and new businesses
Tokai Rubber actively engages in the development of new products and new businesses bases upon its accumulated core technologies such as material technology, production technology and evaluation technology.
Currently a new R&D building called "Technopia" is due to be completed in July 2008, just to the south of the company's headquarters and its Komaki Plant (Komaki, Aichi).
3. Global expansion
With its network of 20 locations in 9 countries in North America, Europe and Asia, Tokai Rubber provides its products with equal quality throughout its network. Furthermore, a new production base (TRI Kyushu) was established in Bungotakada, Oita in Japan (scheduled to start operation in January 2009). This will enhance Tokai Rubber's production capability allowing capacity expansion and effective production system with appropriate risk management.
